David Thurston, 24, from Westwego, was convicted by a Jefferson Parish jury for corresponding online with an assumed Wyoming woman who was going to allow him to have sex with her daughter. Prosecutor Chris Cox said Thurston faces up to 50 years for the attempted aggravated rape and 10 years for the pornography possession. According to Cox, Thurston’s conviction was the first of its kind in Louisiana.
